Speech, Surf and Sat Nav - Evolution Of Mobile Phones
By David Collins
As technologies are constantly evolving to meet the needs of our daily lives - with services such satellite navigation and wi-fi becoming more widely available to us. And the online world is literally now available in the palm of hand, as mobile phone technology is ever-changing to the habits and environments of the modern world.
From high-quality photography, music streams, video playback and satellite navigation technology, we now have a greater choice of applications available on handsets.
Mobile phones have been going through this evolutionary stage for some time now, with new models with a multitude of applications available to us - allowing us to tailor our mobiles to our lifestyles.
There was a time when mobile phones were just used for making calls.
Okay, so the power packs may have been bulky and required to be carried on your belt, but it was a step forward in the world of communication. Back in those days, the idea of carrying the equivalent of a home PC in your pocket seemed laughable.
However, now you can pick up cheap mobile phones which have internet capabilities, satellite navigation software and Bluetooth technology - allowing us to swap multimedia content with our mates and browse the internet through wi-fi technology which is becoming more widely available around city centres.
With companies installing smaller and more powerful processors and chips into handsets which seem to be getting smaller by the day, the choice is endless - and it\'s not just limited to contract phones either, for even pay as you go mobile phones now offer technologies you would normally associate with a home PC.
And these technologies are set to get faster and more widely available, allowing the opportunity for high-quality gaming on mobile phone handsets - which are beginning to contain processors and graphics chips that put them on a par with earlier laptop computers.
And it\'s not just gaming experiences and internet services that have evolved over time; camera technology on mobile phones has seen many changes, and now we are able to carry phones that can take higher resolution photographs using smaller handsets.
Mobile phones have gone from being a rarity to a life necessity over recent times, and as companies constantly change their technologies, experiment with technology and open possibilities for new applications on handsets and technologies, who knows how many features will soon become available on such small handsets?
Looking for cheap mobile phones? Compare a wide range of mobile phones and pay as you go mobile phones to find a plan that suits you.
